Your kindness and generosity mean the world to us and to the families we serve. Your support helps to create a warm and comforting environment for families facing challenging times. The Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House is more than just a place to stay; it is a sanctuary for families whose children are undergoing medical treatment at nearby hospitals. Sierra Subaru's Commitment to Bradoaks Elementary School After Fire Breaks Out - Tonya S.

We wanted to take a moment to express our deepest sympathy and solidarity for Bradoaks Elementary School during a recent devastating challenge they faced. It was with heavy hearts that we learned about the unfortunate 8 classrooms that caught on fire at Bradoaks, destroying desks, supplies, and countless hours of hard work put in by both students and teachers. Upon hearing the news, our hearts sank as we imagined the impact such tragedy would have on the students, teachers, and staff. The fire not only destroyed physical possessions but also erased the tangible evidence of the students' dedication and school progress. Their artwork, projects, and personal belongings—all reduced to ashes in a matter of moments. Our Love Promise team quickly responded to the fire aftermath. On a Saturday morning, we arrived at Bradoaks Elementary School ready to assist. We worked hard, moving furniture such as shelving units, bookshelves and file cabinets, clearing debris, and unboxing Amazon boxes filled with donations sent by the community. Our goal was to create space for temporary classrooms, ensuring that the students could continue their education despite the challenges they faced. Witnessing the resilience and determination of the school community to overcome this obstacle was truly inspiring. In addition to providing physical assistance, we reached out to Bradoaks to offer further support in their recovery efforts. That is when we learned about the teachers' Amazon wishlists, detailing essential items needed to rebuild their classrooms, we were eager to lend a hand. Fulfilling those requests became a personal mission for us—a tangible way to show our solidarity and commitment to helping Bradoaks rebuild stronger than ever. The experience of standing alongside Bradoaks Elementary during this challenging time has reinforced our belief in the power of community support. Despite the misfortune faced, the spirit of unity and solidarity within the Monrovia community shines brightly. As we continue to navigate through uncertain times, let's continue the importance of coming together to support one another. This is the Sierra Subaru Way – standing by our neighbors, lifting each other up. Sierra Subaru of Monrovia Love Promise Team Dear Sierra Love Promise Program, I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for your support and assistance in the wake of the devastating fire at Bradoaks Elementary School. Your generosity has made a significant impact on our school community, and we are deeply grateful for your kindness during this difficult time. I would like to extend a special thank you to Subaru of Monrovia for their generous donation of school supplies. The whiteboards and oil pastels they provided are essential tools that I use frequently in my classroom, and their contribution will undoubtedly enhance the learning experience for my students. Additionally, receiving three Peter Reynolds books as part of the donation was incredibly touching for me. These books hold a special place in my heart, and I am overjoyed to have them back in my collection to share with children for years to come. In the midst of the darkness that the fire left behind, Subaru of Monrovia has truly been a beacon of light. Their kindness and generosity have not only provided much-needed supplies but have also brought hope and comfort to our school community. We are immensely grateful for their support and for being a source of positivity during this challenging time. Once again, thank you for your compassion and generosity. Your support has made a world of difference to us, and we are profoundly grateful for your partnership as we work to rebuild and move forward. With sincere appreciation, Tonya Sherman Dear Elizabeth and Mayra, I want to send a huge THANK YOU to you both along with all the folks at Sierra/Subaru of Monrovia for purchasing a new teacher's chair and school supplies from my classroom wish list. After the fire at our school destroyed everything in the speech therapy room, your kindness and support has truly helped with our recovery. My students and I are so grateful to you for looking out for our community and taking care of us during this tough time. With extreme gratitude, Ivy Bower, M.S., CCC-SLP Speech-Language Pathologist Monrovia Unified School District Monrovia, CA

Elevating Women, One Cup at a Time - Mayra N.

On March 8th, Sierra Subaru of Monrovia had the pleasure of hosting a special Tea Party dedicated to the remarkable women of Sierra Subaru. It was a sincere gesture to express our appreciation for their invaluable contributions to our team and to celebrate their presence in our Sierra family. The Sierra Subaru conference room was arranged into a charming tea party, decorated with flower arrangements, tea cups, treats including pastries, fruit platters, and freshly brewed coffee and tea. Seeing everyone come together, sharing stories and laughter, was proof of the strong bonds that unite us as a team. It reminded us of why we do what we do under the Subaru Love Promise – not just for our community and customers, but also for our incredible team. Throughout the event, there were giveaways that added an extra element of appreciation. It was touching to witness the emotion on the faces of those who were lucky enough to win prizes, a small token of our appreciation for their hard work and dedication. Sending Love in Every Basket - Joseph W.

On behalf of Hope Street Family Center and the California Hospital medical Center, as well as the entire community we serve, we wanted to express our sincerest gratitude for Sierra Subaru of Monrovia’s incredibly generous donation this Valentine's Day and your steadfast commitment to children and families in the downtown Los Angeles community. Your support means more to us than words can express. Your dedication to empowering children through education is truly inspiring, and we are honored to have Sierra Subaru as a partner in our work. As Virginia Escamilla, our director at our Angelica site expressed, "Sierra Subaru's Valentine visit was a welcomed treat for all of our preschool children. Most of our families are very low-income families who can't often afford extra treats or gifts throughout the year. A couple of families have been experiencing hardships that no young child should, such as not having a consistent place to sleep at night. Taking home a personal teddy bear and a few special treats to call their own in a new environment can be particularly special. Thank you Sierra Subaru for your thoughtfulness!" The impact of your generosity extends far beyond the walls of our classrooms. By investing in our children and their families, you are helping to shape the future of our Los Angeles and community, one child at a time. Your belief in the potential of every child drives us to work harder and dream bigger. We are incredibly grateful for the ongoing partnership between Sierra Subaru and Hope Street. Together, we are making a difference in the lives of children and families in downtown Los Angeles, creating a brighter and more hopeful future for all.x Once again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support. We look forward to continuing this journey together and witnessing the positive impact we can make as a team. Best, Joseph Wright Director of Operations and Innovation

Feeding Friends - Russel H.

The Rotary Club of Monrovia has been building the 'Feeding Friends program', our food packing event, for the last eight years. We started small at 12,000 meals, and this year, with the generous support of Sierra Subaru of Monrovia, we were able to package and ship 35,000 meals. Sierra Subaru of Monrovia donated $2,500 to our organization to support the Feeding Friends community project, showcasing their commitment to our community through the Subaru Love Promise program. With their assistance, along with that of our community and school volunteers, we continue to make a significant impact. This event brings people together, both young and not so young, to have a good time and do something important for needy folks' well-being. The food servings, each recipe formulated to be the equivalent of a well-balanced meal with a two-year shelf life, have been shipped to families in the Ukraine, where they are needed most. Next year, we plan to expand our reach by supplying our own Food Bank here in Monrovia. Each serving costs $0.38, but due to inflation, next year we anticipate an increase of $0.02 unless we can increase our volume. Our funds come from our club members, our Rotary District 5900, donations from the public, and the support of partners like Sierra Subaru of Monrovia. We're grateful for the ongoing support from 'The Outreach Program,' which provides all the components and ingredients necessary for our events. Outreach serves many other Rotary Clubs in the US and is a reliable partner. Our deepest thanks go out to Sierra Subaru of Monrovia for their continued assistance and commitment to making a positive difference in our community. Russel Hollinhurts Rotary Club of Monrovia

A Day of Wellness for Our Valued Team - Rick C.

I had to share the awesome experience we had recently at Sierra Subaru of Monrovia – a "Day of Wellness" that left me feeling rejuvenated and ready to tackle the New Year! Our company sponsored a day of fitness at Foothill Physique Studio, and I was lucky enough to join one of the two 45-minute workout sessions. It wasn't just a workout; it was a statement from Sierra Subaru that our well-being matters. They understand that a healthy team is a happy and productive team. Participating in the session was not just about physical health but also about starting the year with a positive mindset. Why does taking care of ourselves matter? Well, beyond the obvious health benefits, it's about feeling good, staying focused, and handling whatever comes our way. Sierra Subaru gets this, and that's why they invest in our wellness – a clear sign that they care about us beyond the workplace. Massive thanks to the Sierra Subaru Love Promise for organizing this wellness day. It's not just a one-time thing; it's a commitment to our health and happiness. I am grateful to be part of a team that values us not just as employees but as individuals. Rick Cordon Subaru Product Specialist Sierra Subaru of Monrovia

Loads of Love: The Sierra Subaru Way! Laundry Kits for Those in Need - Alex C.

Dear Monrovia Subaru Team, I want to express our heartfelt gratitude once again, with a special mention to Mayra, Elizabeth, and Miguel, for your incredible support in providing 100 laundry kits for our recent event at Echo Park. Your generosity has made a significant impact on the lives of those we serve, and we are truly thankful for your team's thoughtfulness. The laundry kits, complete with a laundry bag, detergent pods, and drying sheets, addressed a critical need for individuals who can't afford to wash their clothing. Your donation went beyond the tangible items; it reflected your commitment to making a positive difference in our community. Sierra Subaru of Monrovia's participation in the clothes and hygiene kits distribution at Echo Park United Methodist Church on January 16, 2024, was instrumental. Your team handed out the laundry kits to over 100 people in need, contributing to the success of our mission. For those unfamiliar with Project ROPA, our mission is to reduce waste and restore dignity by providing clothing and hygiene essentials to those in need. We are a mobile clothing closet delivering premium, hand-selected apparel and shoes to individuals striving for a better life. Your support aligns perfectly with our commitment to making a compassionate and sustainable impact. Our approach is rooted in the belief in the intrinsic value and unlimited potential of each individual. Instead of viewing people as problems, we see them as unique individuals with aspirations and contributions. Many of those we serve are working towards employment, improved health, and stable housing, and Project ROPA is there to support them every step of the way. Once again, thank you for partnering with Project ROPA. We look forward to future collaborations and appreciate your ongoing support. Benito's Journey: A Tale of Resilience and Support at Sierra Subaru - Mayra N.

I'm Mayra from Sierra Subaru of Monrovia, and I have a story I'd like to share about my little furry friend, Benito. Back in early June, I rescued a 2-week-old chihuahua mix, separated from his mom at such an early age. I named him Benito, inspired by one of my favorite singers, Bad Bunny. He quickly became a happy and playful pup, settling into his new home with ease. However, in August, things took an unexpected turn. A week after his second set of shots, Benito started vomiting on a Tuesday night, and his health rapidly declined. I was terrified, watching my once vibrant pup become skinny and frail overnight. Panicking, I rushed him to the local hospital, only to receive the devastating news that he had parvo. The only option was hospitalization, a costly expense I wasn't prepared for, but I knew I had to do whatever it took to save Benito. The bill amounted to over $3,000, and I had to resort to credit to cover the costs. Weeks passed, and Benito fought valiantly, gradually gaining his strength until he was back to being a happy and healthy puppy. Little did I know, sharing Benito's story with my manager, Christine, would lead to a heartwarming surprise. Christine, touched by Benito's journey, generously donated to pay off his medical bills. I was brought to tears by this unexpected act of kindness. Amid all the Love Promise stories we've been a part of and the joy of giving back to the community, I never thought I would become a beneficiary and that Sierra Subaru would extend such compassion to one of its own. Sierra Subaru has not only demonstrated its commitment to the community but also showcased genuine care for its team members. I am forever grateful and thankful to work at a place where the spirit of love and support isn't just a promise – it's a reality. Thank you, Sierra Subaru, for being more than just a workplace; you're a family that cares.

Holiday Distribution - Miguel L.

On December 20, 2023, The Arboretum in Arcadia, CA, was more than just a location; it became the hub of community generosity during our annual Holiday Distribution event. Thanks to the collaboration of dedicated volunteers, over 500 local families facing financial hardships received essential support. This year, our focus went beyond the basics. Families not only left with food boxes containing nutritious staples but also with the added joy of personalized gifts for over 1,000 children, courtesy of our Project Angel. The smiles on those young faces served as a reminder that even small gestures can make a significant impact, especially during the holiday season. None of this would be possible without the ongoing support of Sierra Subaru of Monrovia and their commitment through the Love Promise initiative. Their involvement has been crucial to the success of this annual event. Sierra Subaru's dedication to our community underscores the power of businesses investing in the well-being of their neighbors. In a world full of noise, your collective efforts spoke volumes at the Holiday Distribution event. To those who donated, volunteered, and stood by Foothill Unity Center, thank you for being the real driving force behind this impactful community endeavor. Your commitment to making a difference is what transforms this annual gathering into more than just an event; it becomes a testament to the strength and compassion that thrive within our community. Hope for the Holidays - ELIZABETH R.

As of this past Monday morning, the gifts Sierra Subaru of Monrovia provided for the Holidays Celebrate a Family event were being delivered to the two homes of the children and families they were matched with. Sierra Subaru of Monrovia gifted this single-parent family of five, living temporarily with extended family. Mother and children were living at a shelter for over a year until relatives were able to take them in. Mother is determined to keep her family together and is studying to obtain a high school diploma. She also is working 2 part time jobs (day/ night shift). Family earnings are barely enough to cover food and basic expenses. Family would benefit from holiday support with warm clothing, blankets, and household items. Additionally, a single working mother, with five children under the age of 15. The family has been part of Hope Street Family since the children were enrolled in our early education programs. Mother continues to trust us to care for and teach her children, all of whom now attend our after school program. Education, structure and consistency are important to this mother. She has always encouraged her children to do well in school – and all are strong students. They are excellent readers, have strong math skills, and also have artistic interests. They fully participate in all of our science, art and physical activities – and we are grateful that we are able to provide a safe haven for the children every day afterschool. This family is a great example of the longitudinal growth and stability that our program strives to provide for all families in the community Sierra Subaru played an important part in fulfilling wishes for 2 of the 75 families that became a reality this year and we hope this helped all families find a small sense of joy this season. CHMC Foundation and Hope Street Margolis Family Center established its foundation in 1985 to raise philanthropic support for building projects, equipment, patient care services and community outreach. The generosity and vision of our donors generate the resources to provide the highest quality medical care to all in need, regardless of their ability to pay.

Santa Clothes 2023 - Sylvia V. D.

Giving is a tradition for many during the holidays, and children especially relish the surprise of gifts at Christmas. For some families who are struggling to make ends meet, however, the extra expense of nonessentials has no place in their budget. Thanks to the Monrovia Rotary Club with support from public donations like Sierra Subaru of Monrovia, the Foothill Unity Center, the Rotary Interact club, and the local Kohl’s store, children from some of these families will still enjoy Christmas gifts of school appropriate clothing, shoes, and backpacks. It’s all part of the Rotary project Santa Clothes, started in 2011 by Rotarian Dr. Sylvia Domotor. According to Dr. Domotor, stability is very fragile. For most of these families, it was one major crisis: losing a job, an illness, a divorce, an accident (car or at work) – just one thing that destroyed their family stability and led to a string of unfortunate situations. Santa Clothes event was scheduled this year on Sunday, December 10, 8:00am, at the Monrovia Kohl’s store, and the wide range of volunteers who make this annual event happen have observed how being a part of this giving experience transforms everyone involved. Dr. Domotor came up with the idea for Santa Clothes nearly 12 years ago, and as with any good idea, she also had to develop and organize it. The project has grown in funds and families served, and it is now a signature event of the Monrovia Rotary Club. Anyone who participates in it loves the project and continues to participate each year, Dr. Domotor says. “We have been doing Santa Clothes long enough that all the volunteer Rotarians know their duties and need very little direction from me. All I need to do is oversee the event and troubleshoot. This year’s project budget is $12,000, and by spending $150 per child, 80 children would be able to participate. While most of the funding comes through Rotarians pledges, some public donations have been collected, and in 2022, Sierra Subaru became a corporate sponsor for the event with a $2,000 donation.” Dr. Domotor says, “Sierra Subaru has a mandate to give back to the community and be of public service, and we were fortunate last year to not only receive a donation from them, but they also put together swag bags for each recipient child and took some children shopping in the store. Volunteers from other organizations also offer critical support. In the past, the YMCA Youth in Government group, Kaizen Martial Arts, and the Rotary Interact Club assisted with the project by being personal shoppers with the children.   This year, the Rotary Interact Club through Monrovia High School will take the lead as the recipient children are paired up with one or two Interact students to go shopping. Interactors have received child protection training as well as training on what clothing and shoes would be most appropriate”, Dr. Domotor says. “The recipient children are able to choose their own clothes and express their own personalities… For some of these children, these are the first new, unused, and personally chosen clothes they have ever owned. As for the Interactors who participated in previous years, many reported that Santa Clothes was a humbling experience, one that fostered a new appreciation for what they had at home. While the Interactors take the children shopping and offer them encouragement, the children’s parents can take advantage of the time to accomplish other chores. However, many of them wait outside the store and share coffee and pastries with the volunteers. This is when we hear their personal stories”, Dr. Domotor says. “We hear how they ended up needing help from Foothill Unity. These families are very nice; they’re good people who have run into a number of adverse events.” Participating in the event transforms everyone involved. Dr. Domotor believes that all children deserve Christmas, and Monrovia Rotary Treasurer Pat Holley points out that the Santa Clothes project maintains the Rotary mission of supporting youth in the community. Rotarian Jan Mueting says, “From my perspective, Santa Clothes is one of our most rewarding projects. We get to see firsthand the people whose lives we are touching in real time. The kids come to us so nervous and shy, and by the end of their shopping experience, they leave beaming, proud of the new clothes they have. The transformation is really remarkable.”
